| UKUUG Linux 2001 Linux Developers' Conference 29 June - 1 July 2001, Renold Building, UMIST, Manchester |
The GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) is one of free software's killer apps. There is a strong developer and user community around it, but the main website at http://www.gimp.org/ has been suffering from neglect for years for various reasons. I I will outline these problems and present my solutions and introduce a new templating system (yes, another one) which simplifies the process of adding and editing content and separates programming from content enough to keep people off of each others' toes.
I will also show how to run the GIMP and the Gimp-Perl server in the background on a headless server and then use Gimp-Perl to dynamically generate graphics for the website.
