DotGNU and you: The Future of Web Services for Free Software

This talk will introduce and broadly cover DotGNU, a project sponsored by both the Free Software Foundation and FreeDevelopers.net.

I will discuss how we view the integration of runtime services such as Java/JVM and ECMA spec CLR with backend services such as distributed authentication to produce and deliver next generation enterprise web services using entirely free software.

In particular, I will explore those areas of DotGNU most people are less familiar with, such as distributed authentication and the need for protecting users' privacy. I will also cover the better known Portable.NET runtime and the need for portable cross-platform runtimes available as free software in general.
