This talk will present recent and forthcoming additions to the KDE development framework and applications. In particular you will learn a bit more about the component architecture in KDE and how KDE 3 makes it even easier to use, as well as some information on language bindings and scripting. Interesting new features will be explained, for instance from Konqueror and KOffice.

You will also hear about new projects like Kontact which integrates the PIM applications in KDE, and Kroupware which provides integrated groupware solutions using the Desktop Communication Protocol (DCOP).

The author has concentrated his efforts on various KOffice filters this year, so he will also talk about office file formats and the current efforts for a common format between opensource office suites.
