Linux 2004 Conference and Tutorials Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th August Leeds, West Yorkshire |
Steve Coast - FIPRThe Foundation for Information Policy ResearchThe Foundation for Information Policy Research (fipr.org) in association with European Digital Rights (edri.org) campaigns in the UK and across Europe on many issues. These include software patents, cryptography, identity cards, the Regulation of Investigatory Powers act (RIPa), copyright, file sharing and beyond. Our stated goal is to identify technical developments with significant social impact, commission and undertake research into public policy alternatives, and promote public understanding and dialogue between technologists and policy-makers in the UK and Europe. We organised the RMS talk in london on software patents, and many similar events on the impact of RIPa and ID cards. This talk will be about what we are doing for you, the UK/European citizen interested in these issues. We want to hear from you too, and find what else we can do and what we can do better. |
