Oxwich Bay

On Thursday evening, we will meet at the Oxwich Bay Hotel for food/drinks. There will be a coach leaving the University at approx. 6.30pm for the hotel. There is also a large car park, so if we run out of space on the bus, or people want to travel independently, that's fine. The coach is free, but food and drinks will be at the hotel's standard prices.

Food is served between 6pm and 9pm. Main courses are within the price range £5-20. Large range of local fish, daily specials including vegetarian option. Some example main courses:

• Fillet steak with grilled tomato, field mushroom, watercress & bearnaise sauce £15.95
• Pork cutlet with apple & stilton glaze, port sauce & fresh vegetables £11.95
• Fillet of plaice £7.95
• [Veggie] Burger with chips £4.95 (4oz.) £5.95 (8oz.)

If the weather is good we can sit outside. Those who want to will be able to walk along the dunes on the very large sandy beach (which by the evening will be virtually deserted) or through the nature reserve just behind the dunes. There are lights for the outside seating area so that (weather-permitting) it should be possible to sit out all evening, although a jumper or jacket is a good idea, even in August later in the evening.

Note to car drivers: the road is (in places) narrow and twisty so place take care. You are likely to meet at least some of the following along the way (on the road): horses, sheep, cows and tourists - so please take care!
