Nicolas RoardIntroduction to the GNUstep ProjectGNUstep is a cross-platform, object-oriented framework for desktop or server application development. Based on the OpenStep specification originally created by NeXT (now Apple), GNUstep enables developers to rapidly build sophisticated software by employing a large library of reusable software components and frameworks. It also provides powerful development tools like Gorm, a RAD GUI builder similar to InterfaceBuilder (OSX). GNUstep itself is not an operating system, window manager or desktop environment, though there are several desktop environments in development that are based on it. This talk will focus on a presentation of GNUstep and its different components, a demonstration of the creation of a simple application using the environment, and introduce related projects using GNUstep like OpenGroupware.org, GNUMail or Etoile.
