Antony StoneAn introduction to NetworkingSetting up a Linux machine is simple enough these days, but networking can be a baffling topic for the newcomer. This talk presents the concepts behind networking, shows how to plan your own network of anything from one to a dozen machines, and discusses the security aspects which must be taken into account when connecting your machine to the rest of the world, to make sure that the rest of the world doesn't have access to your machine too! The presentation will also cover network troubleshooting - how to find out which bit's broken when things aren't working properly, and will cover nmap and ethereal as network diagnostic tools. |
