Linux 2006 Conference and Tutorials Thursday 29th June to Sunday 2nd July University of Sussex, Brighton |
Jim Kissel - OSM Ltd.Getting Started with ApacheThe learning curve of a new operating system can be quite steep and this can sometime including learning a new vocabulary. If you are the system administrator by default or appointment, and you couple this with a desire to just "get on with the job", you have a recipe for extreme frustration. One of the tasks a Linux system administrator will usually be asked to perform, is to set up and configure a web server. This talk will provide a succinct introduction to getting the Apache web server installed and running for both static (HTML) and dynamic (cgi-bin) content. It will also provide an introduction to using Server Side Includes (mod_include) and URL Rewriting (mod_rewrite) and some tips on diagnostics. |
