The State of Open Source in Higher and Further Education

What is the state of open source in higher and further education? How many institutions are deploying or developing open source operating systems and applications? What are their motivations? What are the road-blocks to further deployment?

Based on a recent survey of higher and further education institutions, this session looks at the state of development and deployment of open source in higher and further education today. It also examines the future policy-level implications of the UK Government policy on open source and the JISC policy on open source and the practical-level implications of the ground-swell behind software such as Moodle.
