Torsten Spindler - ETH ZurichVirtual Curtains for Privacy EnhancementMore and more spaces are under video surveillance. Some companies have already discovered that there is a market for protecting an observed person's privacy. At ETH Zurich research on a privacy protection system is conducted within a project researching 2D and 3D video (blue-c-ii). The goal is to enable observed persons to control a virtual curtain that masks their appearance in videos taken and streamed. The talk will give an overview on the project's software architecture and examine the role of open source software therein. Reasons for making parts of the systems software open source are given and the process of getting permission to publish code under an open source licence at ETH Zurich is explained. |
