Lead into Gold: Catalyst refactoring, optimisation and testing
The Catalyst web framework is rapidly increasing in popularity in the perl world (I counted at least four presentations that mentioned they were using it at UKUUG spring 2008), but many people reach a moderately sized codebase without ever really thinking through their architecture and planning for scalability.
In this talk, I'll cover how to take an existing application that works, refactor it to be more easily testable and then move on to taking advantage of a well-tested infrastructure to profile, optimise and clean up the codebase to ensure that you can still develop just as fast in a year's time as you could when you first started out.
