Linux multipathing provides I/O failover and path load sharing for multipathed block devices. In this talk I shall provide an overview of the architecture of the generic device-mapper multipathing capability recently incorporated into systems based on 2.6 kernels. I will describe how the various components such as the kernel modules, user-space tools, hotplug, udev and kpartx interact. To conclude, I will discuss some extensions currently being developed and other feature requests.
