Brazil again
Brazilian newspaper Planeta Porto Alegre reports on a campaign aimed at countering some of the influence multinational software companies have on various Latin American governments. It also relates various backdoor shenanigans and “weird” coincidences (for example, the Ecuadorian representative at a recent tech conference was a lawyer for Microsoft not long ago – what are the odds?) in the Latin IT world and the link between Brazil’s open source stance and free trade agreements.
The Macon Telegraph, in a widely syndicated article, reports on Brazil’s “trailblazing”use of OS, and Investors.com has a few interesting things on the potential for open source software vendors to expand in Brazil and the rest of the developing world.
