UKUUG's Linux Developers' Conference comes to Edinburgh

31st July - 3rd August 2003

Members of the Linux community will gather in Edinburgh this summer for the UK Unix User Group's annual Linux technical conference.

The event is for anyone with a serious interest in Linux, including, systems administrators, Linux professionals, developers and enthusiasts. People attend from companies, universities and Linux User Groups to both share and extend their knowledge of Linux and meet some of the people responsible for the latest developments.

Linux 2003 begins on Thursday 31st July with a tutorial on the Linux kernel by Stephen Tweedie of Red Hat, and an introduction to the Python programming language by John Pinner & David Chan of Clockwork Software Systems.

The conference runs from Friday 1st August through to Sunday afternoon 3rd August.

Highlights of the programme include:

  • Jon 'maddog' Hall (Linux International)
  • Martin Michlmayr & Bdale Garbee (Debian project leaders)
Other speakers represent IBM, Red Hat, SuSE, Debian, HP, SGI, Novell and GBdirect.

Delegate early-bird discounted rates are available until 30th June. Students also receive a substantial discount.

"This year's event promises to be our biggest ever, with some of the world's top Linux experts attending," says Alasdair Kergon, the event co-ordinator.

"Edinburgh is a wonderful city to be visiting - especially in August - and the local Linux User Group, EdLUG, is arranging a great social programme!"
