Letter announcing 2001 AGM

Dear Member, 17th August, 2001
RE: UKUUG Annual General Meeting, 27th September 2001, 6.00 p.m.

We hope that you will be able to attend this year's UKUUG AGM which will be held on Thursday, 27th September at 6.00 p.m in Room 739 of the Institute of Education, 20 Bedford Way, London WC1H 0AL.

The past year has again been very successful for UKUUG with some very well attended events, a good Newsletter, and an influx of new members. It is important that this momentum is maintained for the future.

The present Council of Management are:

Chairman
Treasurer

Charles Curran   (elected Sept. 1998) *
James Youngman   (elected Sept. 1999)
David Hallowell   (elected Sept. 1998) *
Alasdair Kergon   (elected Sept. 1999)
Roger Whittaker   (elected Sept. 2000)
Owen LeBlanc   (elected Sept. 2000)

*Both Charles Curran and David Hallowell have served one term of three years and thus their term of office terminates at this AGM. However, both are eligible for re-election and both are standing again for nomination.

Messrs. Youngman, Kergon, Whittaker, and LeBlanc are all willing to continue.

Council has a maximum of 6 members and this number cannot be increased except by special resolution at an AGM. Council has discussed this matter recently and has decided not to propose any changes at present.

One way to assist in the ever-increasing workload of UKUUG and its Council is through various committees, i.e. working-groups. Currently, these are Web-site, Events, Newsletter, and Schools.

Such working groups help spread the workload and allow input of new ideas etc. Participants work mainly on-line and report back to the Council.

Please consider whether you yourself or someone you know would be available to give time and effort for the benefit of the UKUUG, and complete the working group interest form provided.

If you would like to find out more about Council activities and the UKUUG working groups, Charles Curran or myself would be delighted to discuss this with you; please contact the UKUUG Secretariat (see details above) in the first instance.

Please find your AGM Agenda enclosed. We shall look forward to seeing you.

The AGM Agenda, Proxy Form, Nomination Form, and Working-Group interest form can also be found on the UKUUG web site: http://www.ukuug.org/.

Yours sincerely,

Jane Morrison

Company Secretary
