19th August, 2002
Dear Member,

RE: UKUUG - Annual General Meeting, 26th September 2002, 6.00 p.m.

We hope that you will be able to attend this year's UKUUG AGM which will be held on Thursday, 26th September at 6.00 p.m. in room 731 at the Institute of Education, 20 Bedford Way, London WC1H 0AL.

The past year has again been very successful for UKUUG with some very well attended events, a good Newsletter, and an influx of new members. It is important that this momentum is maintained for the future.

The present Council of Management are:

  • Chairman Charles Curran (re-elected (for a second term) Sept. 2001)
  • Treasurer James Youngman (elected Sept. 1999)*
  • David Hallowell (re-elected (for a second term) Sept. 2001)
  • Alasdair Kergon (elected Sept. 1999)*
  • Roger Whittaker (elected Sept. 2000)
  • Owen LeBlanc (elected Sept. 2000)

*Both James Youngman and Alasdair Kergon have served one term of three years and thus their term of office terminates at this AGM. However, both are standing again for re-election.

David Hallowell and Owen LeBlanc are resigning from Council at this AGM.

Council is limited to 6 members; 4 places will therefore become vacant at this AGM.

As indicated above as James Youngman and Alasdair Kergon are both standing for nomination this means that we are seeking 2 new Council members.

Please consider whether you yourself or someone you know would be available to give time and effort for the benefit of the UKUUG.

If you feel that you cannot commit to a full Council position but wish to help UKUUG do its work, please consider participating in one or more of the working groups. As mentioned in the recent Newsletter, much of UKUUG's work is currently handled by Council or individuals thereon but we, UKUUG, could be far more productive if we were to work together (in groups). If you are interested in co-operating thus, in, for example, work on Events, Newsletters, Membership, Commercial Liaison, Academic Liaison, Schools, Web-site and Documentation, Regional Groups, Publicity, or any other item, we would like to hear from you.

If you would like to find out more about Council activities and the UKUUG working groups, Charles Curran or myself would be delighted to discuss this with you, please contact the UKUUG Secretariat (see details above) in the first instance.

Please find your AGM Agenda enclosed. We shall look forward to seeing you.

The AGM Agenda, Proxy Form, Nomination Form and Working Group interest form can also be found on the UKUUG web site - http://www.ukuug.org/.

Yours sincerely, Jane Morrison Company Secretary
