Christoph Hellwig - SGI

XFS

Paper (MagicPoint)

XFS is an advanced journalled filesystem, originally developed for SGI's IRIX operating system. In 1995 SGI decided to port XFS to Linux and release it under the GNU Public License (GPL).

This paper will explain unique and interesting features of XFS, describe differences in the implementations for IRIX and Linux and give a brief history of the XFS development process.
