Route from the Coach & Bus Station

If you’ve arrived by coach, or you’ve flown in and taken a bus from Leeds-Bradford Airport to Leeds Bus Station, follow these directions to the Clarence Dock accommodation.

From the outside bit of the coach station you want to head south, with the coaches on your right. The bus station is inside; when heading south the buses are on your left. In either case you should end up opposite Mecca Bingo (if you end up opposite the police station then you’ve gone too far).

Cash machines are on the outside of the bus station at the north end (opposite the police station). There’s a newsagent inside, where it may be worthwhile purchasing a copy of The Leeds Guide magazine — it’s only a couple of quid and it’s got a really nice map in the centre pages (all the buildings are individually drawn in 3D!) which will come in handy for navigating the city centre.

This is photo shows Mecca bingo from the coach station:

Cross the road then head down this path to the left of the bingo hall, through the archway under the railway line, to Leeds Parish Church:

When you reach the church turn left, heading past it and The Palace pub, then following the pavement round to the right on to Crown Point Bridge:

Go over the bridge, then cross the road and turn left in front of this building with orangey bricks:

Head towards the flags, and you’ll reach the back of the Royal Armouries Museum:

Turn right, down some steps, so you’re walking along the path with the Armouries on your left and the canal (usually with some narrowboats in it) on your right:

When you get to the front of the Armouries building, turn left and walk past the entrance (the museum’s free, by the way, and well worth a look if you’ve got time), then follow the path round to the right, past the Menagerie Court and Tiltyard:

Keep going up the driveway, and Clarence Dock flats are the yellow-ish buildings ahead of you:

Cross the road when you reach them. There is a gate there, but you don’t have a key yet so turn right and walk the short distance to the next junction:

Turn left at the junction:

Just past the bus stop on the left is the entrance to Clarence Dock accommodation:

Once you’ve checked in you’ll want to head up to the Medical Teaching Centre, where the conference is being held.
