Storage area network and parallel file systems: high throughput file access for your cluster

A SAN gives cluster file systems like GFS, Lustre or GPFS parallel access to data. Knowledge about differences and features, maintenance issues, scalability, limitations, integration with NFS helps to successfully implement a cluster file system. Linux and a Storage Area network can reliably handle hundreds of Terabytes.
