Michael Meeks - NovellGnome 2.6: the Linux DesktopThis talk will show the Gnome 2.6 desktop in action, and give an overview of it's integration as part of a complete desktop solution. Particularly showing how recent work on OpenOffice.org and Evolution groupware suites has integrated these smoothly into the desktop. The merits of the Gnome platform will be presented: its stable API/ABI, open development model and major vendor support. Also, expect an update on the progress of the accessibility work across the desktop so crucial for government sales. This talk should encourage you as to why our vision of Free software on every users desktop is fast becoming a viable, and commercially sensible reality. Slides |
