Linux 2004 Conference and Tutorials ![]() Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th August Leeds, West Yorkshire |
Conference TutorialsThis year, we have two contrasting tutorials on the Thursday. Stephen Tweedie provides an in-depth technical tutorial on security-enhanced Linux, while Niall Mansfield presents a linux networking tutorial. SELinux is a major new standard linux security feature already available in some cutting-edge linux distributions based on 2.6 kernels, such as Debian and Fedora, and likely to become mainstream over the next year or so, by which time all good linux system administrators will need a basic understanding of it. The networking tutorial is for those who wish to broaden and deepen their knowledge of what happens within their network. Perhaps you have set-up and configured your Apache web server on Linux (or BSD), but wish to know something about what happens between your typing a URL into the page, and the request reaching Apache at the other end. The day will cover the tools used for network diagnosis, both on clients, servers and analysing the packets going over the wire. Multiple protocols will be covered, both in normal use and normal error conditions. |
