Steven Whitehouse - Red HatThe VFS and cluster filesystemsThis talk will cover the recent developments in the VFS which are related to cluster filesystems. The idea is to be a bit more generic than previous talks which have focused exclusively on GFS2. It will cover several items which have changed recently in the VFS or for which there is a proposal for change largely for the benefit GFS2 or OCFS2 and explain the rationale and implications of each. Also it will cover some of the as-yet unsolved problems, depending on how many of them are fixed by September. One example is Nick Piggin's AOP patches. Others are the readdir problem and ways to implement rename. The talk should be useful for anybody wanting to start working on the internals of advanced filesystems and for anybody interested in how the VFS interacts with filesystems. |
