UKUUG RC5/OGR Team
Introduction
The UKUUG RC5 team is a team representing UK computer users who wish to participate in the distributed.net RC5 and OGR challenges as well as in any future distributed.net challenges.
After you set up the distributed.net client it just runs quietly on your
computer - you don't even have to know it's there, all work is done in the
background and doesn't affect your computers performance. Membership of
the RC5/OGR team is open to all, you don't need to be a UKUUG member to join. Just follow these simple steps:
-
Download the appropriate distributed.net client for your platform.
-
Install and configure the client.
-
Register your email address on the distributed.net stats page.
If you're already running the distributed.net client and would
like to join our team all you need to do is to get your distributed.net
password and click here to join our team (your user ID is the email address you used for setting up the distributed.net client).
Important note: will all UKUUG RC5 Team members who would like
to participate in OGR please upgrade your client to the latest version available
from the distributed.net client download page.

Why should I join?
distributed.net is a non-profit organisation set
up to use the power of thousands of computers on the Internet to solve a
problem much quicker than what could otherwise have been done. The RC5 challenge
is using the power of thousands of computers across the Internet to solve
an encryption challenge and the OGR challenge will help solve a mathematical
problem which will have some useful scientific benefits. As the distributed.net clients just run on your computers idle time you have nothing to lose by running these clients.
Additional help and information is available on the distributed.net webpage, contact me if you have any questions specific to the UKUUG RC5 team.
